You play as Jun Alen, a simple scrap dealer who, thanks to a special genetic trait, can operate ancient alien technology. This gift is the only hope for your dying homeworld of Leiden, which is being ravaged by the so-called "Red" virus.
According to the deep dive, Jun is fully customizable, both in appearance and gender. Right at the start, you choose your basic alignment: virtuous paladin or ambitious immortal. This noticeably shapes your character.
The crew is stealing the show from the humans so far. Besides familiar faces like the impatient mech pilot Elise and the experienced Tom, you'll meet Salt, a biologically enhanced octopus. A walking running gag with a sniper rifle, she takes contracts very literally. Matthew McConaughey also lends his voice to the mysterious Cece Orlev.
Gameplay between stealth and a hail of grenades
The gameplay footage showcases a solid blend of tactics and action. You decide how you clear rooms. You can either sneak past Mercs using a cloak of invisibility or throw a thruster grenade into enemy turrets. Your most important tool is your gauntlet, a powerful artifact inherited from Jun's father. Upgrades like the "Lance" ability allow you to destroy vines of the Rot virus and clear new paths. The combat feels impactful, and the hit feedback is satisfying.
Decisions also have immediate, brutal consequences. In one scene in the control room, Elise demands that enemy mercenaries simply be blasted into space by opening an airlock. Tom protests, arguing that innocent workers could die. You have to choose. Such moral dilemmas permeate the entire game and permanently alter the game world.
