F1 25 will receive the 2026 Season Pack on June 3rd. The free update brings PSSR upscaling for the PS5 Pro, ray tracing in quality mode, and the new Madring track.

Codemasters will integrate the revamped PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR 2) into "F1 25" on June 3, 2026 via a free update and the "2026 Season Pack".

The technical update delivers a higher internal rendering resolution for the PS5 Pro at a stable 60 frames per second in quality mode. Codemasters uses PSSR as a performance buffer to free up hardware resources for computationally intensive calculations.

PSSR deployment and ray tracing functions

The PS5 Pro doesn't use AI upscaling for higher frame rates, but rather to stabilize graphics quality. In quality mode, the console simultaneously calculates ray-traced reflections, dynamic diffuse global illumination, and regular global illumination. This impacts performance. PSSR compensates for the resulting performance drop by rendering the game internally at a lower resolution and then upscaling it. The developer doesn't disclose the native pixel values.

The performance mode remains unchanged at 120 Hz. Those with a compatible monitor will benefit from the raw power of the Pro console, while the optional 8K mode remains a niche feature for a small number of display owners. Its benefit in everyday racing games is minimal.

New city course as hardware reference

Codemasters is using the new Madring track as a benchmark for the PS5 Pro. According to the developers, the high-speed city circuit was specifically optimized for the combination of PSSR and the enhanced ray tracing features. In reality, this means complex light reflections on track boundaries and optimized draw distances that are not possible on the standard PS5.

In addition to the racetrack, the package includes data from the current 2026 season. This includes the new regulations, the Audi and Cadillac teams, and the tactical overtaking mode with active aerodynamics.

The update reflects the typical evolution of PS5 Pro patches. Instead of new graphics modes, Codemasters delivers improved visual stability within the existing options. For PS5 Pro owners, this translates to sharper textures and more precise lighting at a consistent 60 frames per second. The update isn't a reason to buy a new console, but active gamers will certainly notice the performance gains on the PS5 Pro.
