Bethesda has launched a free-to-play event in 'Fallout 76', which is available now. This event also includes the new 'Wasterlanders' expansion. Bethesda is also introducing the Seasons today.
Seasons are a new, account-based system that improves upon the current challenge system and will help players earn many new rewards. Seasons will be available to all players and offer a unified progression system with new and unique rewards ranging from Power Armor paint jobs and CAMP items to Atoms, Legendary Scrip, Perk Packs, and more.
Instead of the old challenge system, where players earned Atoms by completing daily and weekly quests, players now receive a new currency: SCORE points. These points allow players to advance their seasonal progress and unlock some incredible rewards. The result of these changes is a more flexible, engaging, and fun experience for all players.

The seasons are currently being tested and may therefore change based on player feedback and internal playtests, but basically they work like this:
- A new option will appear in the main menu, allowing players to access a seasonal progress screen with a changing Fallout design. Season 1, for example, will be styled like a Captain Cosmos board game.
- All players begin a season in the first empty space on the board, rank 1 out of 100. Through the revamped challenges and other in-game activities, players earn a new currency called SCORES, which can be used to progress on the game board.
- The challenges will be less complicated and easier to complete – they are usually activities that the player can complete while playing Fallout 76 normally.
- Each rank increase is rewarded. The higher the rank, the better the rewards. Special rewards await at certain milestones (rank 25, 50, 76, etc.).
- Two weeks after the start of a season, players can skip ranks for 150 Atoms. This is especially worthwhile for players who joined a season later.
- Each season lasts 10 weeks. There will be a two-week break between seasons.
The inaugural Season 1 starts this summer with Patch 20. Further information about the seasons is also available. on the official website.
