Square Enix has announced the role-playing game "Fantasian Neo Dimension" for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC, which comes from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi.
Players will experience an expanded version of "Fantasian," originally released for Apple Arcade in 2021, but with brand-new features such as English and Japanese voice acting and an additional difficulty level. They will also explore nearly 160 different handcrafted dioramas, providing between 60 and 90 hours of gameplay. The first half focuses more on the story, while the second half is more quest-oriented, allowing players to freely explore the world.
In "Fantasian Neo Dimension," players take on the role of Leo, who embarks on a journey to regain his memories and save the world from an unusual mechanical infection. They experience a unique and modern take on the popular turn-based system, featuring a wealth of unique mechanics and strategic battles that revitalize the classic RPG formula.
Sakaguchi also draws on his experience from the final FantasyThe series brings several quality-of-life improvements to the classic JRPG genre with "Fantasian," such as the "Dimengeon Battle" mechanic. This allows players to send previously encountered enemies to a separate dimensional dungeon, optimizing combat and maximizing undisturbed exploration of the beautiful locations. "Dimengeon Battles" also introduces various gimmicks or power-ups that can turn the tide of battle for a more satisfying encounter. Similarly, the Growth Map offers players various customization options, and party members can be swapped in and out for even more diverse strategic choices.
The new version is rounded off by the soundtrack from composer Nobuo Uematsu, who is also responsible for his work on the final FantasyThe series is known for having composed all 60 tracks. The many layers of a full orchestra and various synthesizer melodies complement the unforgettable and magical world of Fantasian.
The release is scheduled for winter 2024, while the current trailer offers a first glimpse.
