Koei Tecmo unveiled the remake of at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025. Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly It has been unveiled. Fans can look forward to a technically and gameplay-wise revamped horror experience.
Just like in the original, you fight aggressive ghosts using the Camera Obscura. Focus settings and zoom filters change the perspective – using the wrong lens costs you energy. For the remake, Koei Tecmo, together with Team Ninja, streamlined the controls, fine-tuned the difficulty, and made the animations noticeably smoother.
New features include additional collectibles, new locations, and the "Holding Hands With Mayu" mode, which was originally cut. It strengthens Mio's bond with her sister – details on its gameplay effect are not yet available.
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake It will be released in early 2026 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Fans of the horror classic will find a noticeably modernized version here.
