Square Enix is bringing "Final Fantasy 16" to PC in September, ending its PS5 exclusivity. A playable demo is available now.
The publisher recently stated openly that they want to make their games accessible to a wider audience, which means less PlayStation exclusivity and more Xbox and PC. This is also intended to compensate for the publisher's recent setbacks and further improve its financial situation.
Final Fantasy 16 will be available for PC starting in September.
The next title will be "Final Fantasy XVI," releasing on September 19th for PC. The role-playing game is available for pre-order now as a Standard Edition. Additionally, there's a Complete Edition that includes the exciting DLC chapters "Echoes of the Fallen" and "The Rising Tide" at a discounted price. At launch, the DLC chapters will also be available individually or as part of the "Final Fantasy XVI" Expansion Pass. Pre-orders also include the following bonuses: Weapon – Blade of Courage; Gil Boost Accessory – Cait Sith Talisman; and Music Roll "Sixteen Bells."
Additionally, a playable demo is now available on Steam. Players can experience the beginning of Clive's adventure and play through the prologue of his youth. The demo offers over two hours of gameplay and allows players to transfer their save data to the full version. Furthermore, the demo includes the "Esper Probe" mode, where exciting battles with numerous Esper abilities await players.
You can find some impressions of "Final Fantasy 16" itself in our original PS5 reviewIn it, we came to the following conclusion:
“Final Fantasy XVI has become the action hit everyone hoped for. The game not only looks exceptionally good, but also manages to tell a gripping story with many memorable moments and interesting characters. The new combat system is also very well done and offers plenty of customization options for both beginners and experienced players. Only the very repetitive side quests slightly mar the overall impression.”
Whether “Final Fantasy 16” will also be released for Xbox Series X|S is no longer entirely out of the question.

FF16 definitely pushed the PS5 to its limits.
Games like this clearly demonstrate that consoles only sell because of their software, not their processing power. I can wholeheartedly recommend FF16 to any gamer; I don't know how many thousands of bosses I've defeated, but two of them in the game are definitely among the most epic, awesome, and truly cinematic...
I'd love to play it again in 4k, 100fps, maxed out... luckily 2024 is packed haha
I'm super excited for tomorrow, I'm pretty sure Wukong will be my GOTY of 2024, hopefully it's not too easy because it's also supposed to appeal to a mass audience.
I still haven't played it and don't plan to; I even prefer the monkey game. But I'm curious how the game will sell on PC. PC/Xbox users are the first to complain when Square's games are exclusive to PS, but then they don't buy them when they're released for their platform, especially Xbox users, because their target audience plays completely different games. I'd like to see it be a success so that the budget for FF7 Part 3 increases. After Part 3, I don't care what happens to Square. Square's best years were during the PS1 era. Wu-Kong shows that nowadays almost any developer can deliver graphics on par with Unreal Engine.
I hope it sells well. I actually thought FFXVI was pretty cool. A less linear story and a few real side quests and minigames wouldn't have gone amiss. But I thought the setting itself and the characters were very well done.
