There has been speculation for some time about the whereabouts of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, whose announcement is now several years in the past.

the latter rumors zufolg to The title will now be released as Final Fantasy XV and could be unveiled very soon. Square Enix's decision to abandon the original name for the game is further supported by the fact that both Amazon in the US and Amazon Japan have removed the game from their databases.

It is still speculated that if Square Enix continues with the project, the game will be released for the next generation of consoles and no longer for PS3 and Xbox 360. They have at least hinted at E3 that they intend to announce something related to Final Fantasy for PlayStation 4.
