With the release of Patch 7.5 “Trail to the Heavens”, Final Fantasy XIV enters the two-part finale of the Dawntrail era and simultaneously massively expands the free trial version.
Patch 7.5, released today, marks the narrative turning point of "Final Fantasy XIV", by introducing the first part of the grand finale of the Dawntrail saga and closing the bridge to Final Fantasy XI with the third part of "Echoes of Vana'diel".
While familiar systems like housing and inventory receive much-needed upgrades, Square Enix is opening the doors to newcomers wider than ever before: The award-winning Shadowbringers expansion is now an integral part of the Free Trial.

Square Enix is sticking to its tried-and-tested formula, but noticeably tightening the screws in the endgame. The main scenario now needs to deliver to bring the somewhat mixed reactions to the launch of "Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail" to a worthy finale.

The aim is to completely eliminate the obstacle for story enthusiasts who don't want to join random groups. The fact that a new limited job, Beastmaster (Patch 7.56), is coming soon will finally give solo farmers some fresh content again.
Why this patch is more than just content
By increasing housing limits and storage space, the team is responding to community requests that have been high on their list for years. It almost seems as if they want to clean up the technical baggage before moving on to the next major expansion. The announcement of new Phantom Jobs and the Kreszentia zone (Patch 7.55) also suggests that they intend to significantly increase long-term content after the rather quiet launch of "Dawntrail."
Patch 7.5 is not an experiment, but a demonstration of strength in content maintenance. The integration of "Shadowbringers" into the Free Trial is the real highlight for the game's growth. For active raiders and collectors, the patch offers plenty of daily content, but the real excitement lies in the narrative.
Can the team set the stage for the next expansion as compellingly as they did with Endwalker? The focus on Final Fantasy XI in the raid will especially resonate emotionally with long-time fans, while the "Cosmo-Exploration" (Patch 7.51) provides much-needed grinding for crafters.
