Fresh from PAX East 2023, we have new gameplay footage today. Final Fantasy XVI. In particular, the World of Valisthea is also presented.
The video explores the vast areas of Valisthea, and also shows Clive gazing over a gorge with a huge waterfall, riding a chocobo through a desert, walking through a small, grass-covered village, exploring a castle in the dark, experiencing a stormy night, and much more.
Although it will be in Final Fantasy XVI There won't be an open world as we know it, but instead expansive areas like Valisthea, which should dispel any concerns about overly linear levels. Players can travel directly to the Valisthea region and return to a central area called the Hideaway after completing the main objective. So there should be plenty of places to explore.
Gameplay shows Eikon Battles & more
At PAX East, additional gameplay scenes were also shown, including Eikon Battles, more Eikonic abilities, and more.
Together with Garuda, Titan, and Ifrit, Clive utilizes the abilities of Bahamut, Phoenix, and others. Odin's Zantetsuken, for example, unleashes a series of hits that can be further combined with Bahamut's Megaflare. This launches multiple energy projectiles into the air, which then rain down on the enemy while Clive continues his attack.
Finally, we see Clive, Torgal, and Jill fighting a Storm Panther. The Eikon battles also become even more extensive, with Ifrit fighting Typhon and Titan.
Those who want to further develop their skills can access the Arcade mode to replay earlier phases in order to achieve a better high score; there is Stage Replay and much more.
Final Fantasy XVI It will be released this June.
