The Square Enix Collective today announced further details and the release date for the animated adventure 'Forgotton Anne', which will be released this coming May.
Forgotton Anne is described as an enchanting, handcrafted, cinematic 2D adventure with a focus on storytelling, set in the mysterious Land of the Forgotten: the hidden dimension where all the misplaced objects from the human world – single socks, lost letters, forgotten toys – reside.
“As anyone who experienced Forgotton Anne 2017 knows, this is one of the best and most remarkable games we have ever released.” says Phil Elliott, Director of Indie Publishing at Square Enix West. "It's not just an adventure that looks like an anime. It's an anime in full, fluid motion. We can't wait to put this beauty into the hands of players – it's a story as delicate and captivating as the world it's set in."
With the help of the Forgotten – creatures formed from these lost objects – Anne and Master Bonku embark on a mission to find their way home. It's a heartfelt story and a light 2D puzzle-platformer with dialogue choices.
"It has truly been a pleasure to watch players and critics enjoy the early versions of Forgotton Anne over the past 12 months, but now things are getting really exciting." says Alfred Nguyen, Creative Director and co-founder of ThroughLine Games. "We think we have created a world that pays homage to some of the greatest anime films, but also takes the art form in a new direction, giving players the opportunity to truly experience an animated adventure."
Forgotton Anne will be released on May 15, 2018, at a price of €19,99.
