Filmmaker Vincent Disanti recently spoke on the Womp Stomp Films podcast about the future of the franchise and offered some initial insights into its current status. The big message: Jason is far from dead. During the premiere party for a short film, Disanti spoke with members of the Jason team and confirmed that they are currently working on a long-term strategy – for the game, the film, and beyond.

The project is still in its very early stages, but according to Disanti, the new Friday the 13th-The game will be significantly larger than the multiplayer experiment by IllFonic and Gun Media released in 2017, which was finally taken offline at the end of 2024.

Bigger, more serious, better funded

This time everything is supposed to be different: no licensing chaos, no abrupt end. According to Disanti flow into the new game “significantly more resources“, and for the first time a “The right core team“With sufficient budget for implementation. What that means in concrete terms remains open – but fans can apparently look forward to a project that goes beyond a niche multiplayer game.”

Another exciting detail concerns composer Harry Manfredini, who also shaped the music of the original films. According to Disanti, he is once again working on the sound concept for the new game to capture the typical, oppressive atmosphere. Manfredini hinted that the new title will feature more realistic visuals and a different tone than the 2017 game – which sounds like a complete reboot.

A universe full of horror

The "Jason Universe“But it wants to be more than just a new game or film project. Comics, short films, and events are intended to ensure that Jason Voorhees remains a permanent presence in pop culture. According to Disanti, the Barsamian family, who are behind the brand, are pursuing a long-term plan: no quick reboots, but rather well-thought-out steps over several years.”

A release before 2027 is unlikely, but the goal is clear: Friday the 13th It should become what it once was: a modern horror myth with roots in the 80s and a future that this time will not end in court.
