The superhero series "Infamous" could be making a comeback after more than ten years of silence, but without the original developer studio, Sucker Punch. Journalist Jordan Midler hinted in a recent podcast episode that a project based on the franchise is currently in development at Sony.
Sucker Punch Productions has been completely occupied with "Ghost of Tsushima" and its sequel, "Ghost of Yotei," for the past few years. There simply wasn't time left for Cole MacGrath or Delsin Rowe. Studio head Brian Fleming has repeatedly emphasized in the past that the team only works on one game at a time.
He also made it clear that they were open to a port or remake by another studio. This scenario now appears to be unfolding. According to Midler, the new project will be developed completely independently of Sucker Punch.
Since Sony is simultaneously working on remakes of older classics like the Greek God of War saga, it's reasonable to assume we might not get a "Infamous 3"...but a technically revamped remake of the first two PS3 installments."
Why this project is crucial for players
The first two Infamous games are stuck. Anyone wanting to play the series' beginnings today either needs a dusty old PlayStation 3 or has to rely on the often unreliable cloud streaming of PlayStation Plus Premium. Native PS5 versions are completely unavailable.
A true remake could especially polish the mission design and the then-groundbreaking, but poorly aged, good-versus-evil choices. If Sony were to hire a capable studio like Nixxes for a PC port or Bluepoint Games for a full PS5 remake, it could be the perfect blueprint for reviving other PS3 classics. The open-world superhero genre is extremely competitive these days. A dark, fresh setting outside the major Marvel and DC licenses definitely has its place here.
The hype should be kept to a minimum for now. Jordan Middler in concrete Even if this information is unconfirmed, projects at this early stage can be completely scrapped by Sony at any time. A new major project on the scale of a full-fledged sequel is unlikely without Sucker Punch anyway. Expect more of a solid remaster collection for the PS5.

Bluepoint for the remake? Hopefully you'll realize that yourselves.
That would be amazing if there really were a remake/remaster with a male main character again.
