Ubisoft has secured top-notch support for the Ghost Recon film from Transformers director Michael Bay, which is being produced in collaboration with Warner Bros. The award-winning director has helmed blockbusters such as Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, and Transformers. Together, they are developing a film based on Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon.
Initial reports of a corresponding implementation emerged in January, when it was revealed that Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO, Jean-Julien Baronnet, was working on a concept for it.
"Bringing Ghost Recon to the big screen with one of Hollywood's boldest directors is a dream come true for us," says Jean-Julien Baronnet, Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. "Warner Bros. is incredibly successful in the production, marketing, and distribution of major films. With this partner, the project will reach its enormous potential."
With over 24 million copies sold, the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon series is one of Ubisoft's best-selling video game franchises. The Ghosts are a special operations unit under the direct control of the Special Operations Command – the elite of modern US special forces. Recent titles in the series include the blockbuster shooter Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online. Ubisoft also released the live-action short film Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Alpha, an additional experience to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
It will probably be quite a while before it makes its cinematic debut.
