Ubisoft will release a new game mode in 'Ghost Recon: Wildlands' tomorrow, Thursday: a free-for-all PvPvE experience for eight players. The new mode is called 'Mercenaries', and its objective is to call for rescue, locate the recovery zone, reach it, and then be the first to board the helicopter.

At the start of the game, the extraction zone is unknown, and players have no ranged weapons, equipment, or items. They must locate and activate radio beacons to narrow down the potential extraction zone on the map. Meanwhile, players will compete to be the first to gather information about the beacons' locations while looting equipment, weapons, and money. After the first player activates three beacons, the helicopter flies to the extraction zone. Upon landing, the location is announced to everyone. The first player to fill their extraction meter and board the helicopter wins the game.

The Mercenaries mode brings with it a host of new features:

  • LootPlayers begin the game with only a melee weapon and must find the best equipment, weapons, and consumables to fight the Unidad forces and enemy players. If a player dies, they lose all collected loot and start again upon resurrection.
  • ArmamentsThe Mercenaries mode includes a new health and armor system. Depending on the equipment players pick up, an armor bar appears. This bar absorbs a percentage of damage based on the penetration capability of the enemy weapon.
  • HealthWhen players are hit by a weapon that causes penetration damage, they bleed and gradually lose a percentage of their health. When injured, they can find three different types of healing items to get back on their feet: first-aid kits, bandages, and syringes.
  • Destructible doorsDestructible doors can be opened with CQC (close-quarters combat). Behind them, players can find information, loot, or cover to aid them in their fight. Players must decide tactically when to break down a door, as nearby enemies will hear them.

As an added bonus, players will receive the Lone Wolf costume as a reward after completing their first match. In addition to the Lone Wolf costume, players can also earn a variety of rewards based on their victories in the new mode.
