Polyphony Digital is bringing four real endurance racing monsters and a new safety car to the game tomorrow, June 11th. After seven weeks of radio silence, update 1.70 delivers the new content for the Group 1 class just in time for the real 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The new cars: Hypercar overload for Group 1
The wait for modern prototypes is over. Until now, the Toyota GR010 Hybrid has sat in the garage completely unrivaled since 2022. Tomorrow, that changes radically. Four current Le Mans contenders are rolling into Brand Central: the BMW M Hybrid V8 (2025), the Ferrari 499P (2023), the Peugeot 9X8 (2025), and the Porsche 963 (2024).
The Ferrari and Porsche, in particular, carry immense prestige, having both won the major titles in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA series in recent years. The wingless Peugeot 9X8 provides the visual highlight, even though it has lagged behind on the actual track so far. The BMW currently leads the 2026 WEC season.
The fifth car to sneak onto the list is the Porsche 911 (992) Turbo S Safety Car (2020). It's based directly on the existing road car. This adds little to the gameplay experience, but it will drive up the price for collectors. Exact credit prices are still pending, but expect to pay hefty sums in the seven-figure range for these hypercars.
New races and the Pikes Peak dilemma
Three new events for the “Gr.1 Prototype Series“Take you to Le Mans, Sardinia, and Watkins Glen. The good news: all of this is done without any restrictive Balance of Performance (BoP). So you can unleash the full power of these new hybrid monsters.”
Additionally, there's the extra menu 54, which, curiously, isn't about the new additions at all. Here you have to gather together the old hybrid classics from 2016: Audi R18, Porsche 919, and Toyota TS050.
The update's locations evoke mixed feelings. Pikes Peak finally makes it into the game – but only as a Scapes background for photo mode. Polyphony Digital has held the exclusive rights to the legendary mountain race track for years, yet again they haven't included it as a drivable course.
Update 1.70 delivers exactly what motorsport fans have been clamoring for for years: the pinnacle of modern endurance racing. The thematic connection to the Le Mans weekend is a perfect fit. The lack of a new track and the fact that Pikes Peak is relegated to little more than a photo opportunity dampens the enthusiasm. Nevertheless, this content boost for the Group 1 class is an absolute must-have for every GT7 driver.
It's great that there's been another update.
But where are the two "Steath Models" for the spectator event? I submitted both entries (you get those on-screen notifications). These should be awarded as a reward after the next game update. Unfortunately, I don't see them. Has anyone received them?
I received an invitation from Ferrari and immediately bought an Enzo. I still need to farm more credits for the other two. It's a bit of a chore. I have about two weeks left for that. Then the invitation expires.
