At the end of the Gran Turismo World Finals Ferrari has finally unveiled its own Vision GT Car Concept. The iconic brand, more than any other, embodies motorsport, and with the Vision GT, they are presenting a possible future concept.
On the occasion the premiere Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi commented:
“We started the Vision GT project 9 years ago and finally have a Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo. We are really looking forward to it. It has been several years since I went to Maranello to meet with Manzoni. A dream is now coming true and this is a very exciting moment for us.”
Ferrari began working on the Vision GT Car over two years ago. Flavio Manzoni, Senior Vice President of Design at Ferrari, adds:
“It is very important for me and Ferrari, as it foreshadows the future of the brand. The idea was to imagine what form the supercar of the future will take. That wasn't easy. It was a project involving all of Ferrari's departments, especially aerodynamics and engineering, which defined the concept of this car.”
The initial concept seemed contradictory, but it wasn't. The aim was to create something precise and sharp, yet also to incorporate organic elements. This apparent contradiction is what makes the Vision GT Car so special for Ferrari.
“We wanted a kind of seamless effect between the interior and exterior surfaces to create an organic object in which art and science merge,” Manzoni continued.
The interior design, particularly the steering wheel, was inspired by a video game, allowing the driver to control the car like a game controller. The steering wheel itself has no mechanical connection, instead using steer-by-wire technology that generates its own force feedback for the driver, similar to modern racing wheels.
Those who complete the Gran Turismo World Finals Viewer Campaign will have access to the Ferrari Vision GT Car from December 15th. Others can take it for a spin from December 23rd.
