There's another update on the film adaptation of Gran Turismo, for which the first official trailer is released today. A short teaser is already generating excitement.
The Gran Turismo-Film is directed by Neil Blomkamp create, which is responsible for, among other things District 9 The story revolves around the GT Academy and how a young racing enthusiast manages to go from player to professional racing driver.
Prominent cast on board
The main cast includes Orlando Bloom, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell Horner, Archie Madekwe and David Harbour, while the story centers on Jann Mardenborough, a real racing driver.
Mardenborough had no connection to motorsport until he participated in the GT Academy. After virtually beating 90.000 competitors in 2011, he drove for Nissan in the Dubai 24 Hours, securing third place. Since then, he has competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the LMP2 class, the British GT Championship, the Toyota Racing Series, and many other series.
The production also involves Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions, as well as Gran Turismo creator and Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi, who serves as executive producer.
“I’ve been very close to video games in many ways throughout my career, and I’d never come across anything like Gran Turismo, where the film itself treats the game as a game. It’s based on a true story about Jann Mardenborough, who learned to drive by playing the game before becoming a professional driver in real life, competing against other real drivers. It’s simply an amazing story.”
