It seems that with GRID 2 they want to unleash the absolute perfect racer on the market, which should give the player the most authentic racing experience to date.

To achieve this, Associate Producer Toby Evan-Jones revealed that they largely distanced themselves from the driver assistance systems in the game, so that the player has to learn from their mistakes and experience the individual handling of each vehicle.

"We want the player to understand how the vehicle drives." so says Evan-Jones. "With an assistant that brakes for you and helps you around the curve, you lose some control and you don't get a real understanding of the vehicle's character."

To achieve this, Codemasters is working with vehicle manufacturers to transfer real vehicle data into the game; from the tires to the weight.

Evan-Jones added: "The handling team has done an incredible job. You will really notice the difference between front-wheel and rear-wheel drive. With front-wheel drive, it feels nice and smooth, while some rear-wheel drive cars are significantly more agile."

GRID 2 will be released on May 31, 2013.
