Grounded 2 arrives on PS5 in Early Access on August 11th! Obsidian is including insect mounts and the "Into the Abyss" update right at launch.

Obsidian Entertainment is bringing the survival sequel "Grounded 2" to the Sony console surprisingly early. Early Access starts at the same time as the next major content update.

"Grounded 2Grounded will be released on August 11th for PlayStation 5. Xbox Game Studios and Obsidian Entertainment are wasting no time and delivering the massive "Into the Abyss" update right at the PS5 launch. Until now, the shrinking adventure had been exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PC since July 2025. Now the exclusivity barrier has completely fallen. Grounded thrives on team dynamics. Anyone who wanders alone through the desert will perish mercilessly.

Buggies, boss fights and new threats

The sequel no longer relies solely on survival with spears and pebbles. Obsidian introduces drivable and combat-ready insect companions, the so-called Buggies. You breed these creatures yourself and ride them through the wilderness of Brookhollow Park. This completely changes the movement. No more endless treks on foot.

The animal kingdom isn't exactly on your side. Besides the familiar insects, you'll encounter true apex predators. The tarantula AXL and a giant lizard will demand serious strategy. You'll even have to subdue, ride, and skin a snake to obtain high-end materials. Sounds stressful. And it is.

Additionally, the Playgrounds feature returns. You build your own maps, share your creations, and play through the community's ideas. This theoretically provides the game with endless content.

The PS5 version arrives at just the right time. After a good year of early access on Xbox and PC, most of the teething problems have been ironed out, and the "Into the Abyss" update delivers new content for all platforms. Anyone who enjoyed the original and is up for brutal boss battles and insect mounts should definitely grab it in August.
