Rockstar today announced the Freemode Events update for 'GTA Online', which will be released next week.

Freemode Events are an evolution of open-world gameplay, allowing players to compete in a series of seamlessly integrated games and challenges within GTA Online's Freemode. They fully utilize the resources of the new console generation and current PC hardware – there are no menus, lobbies, or loading times, just an open Freemode session with friends, crew members, rivals, and random participants, where spontaneous and chaotic new games and challenges emerge.

While you're in Freemode, any of these events can start at any time. You can customize your session to your liking and specifically choose which events are displayed and which aren't. This allows you to play as much or as little of the new content as you want. Thanks to the countless variations of each Freemode event, there are tons of new and unique gameplay experiences, each creating new ways to earn GTA$ and RP in GTA Online.

Is your finger itching to pull the trigger? Then look out for a game of King in the Castle, a turf war where everyone is on their own, trying to storm the designated 'castle' and claim it as their own territory – then defending it against anyone else trying to dethrone you. Form fragile alliances and work together in modes like Beast Hunt, where one volunteer temporarily transforms into a faster, stronger, monstrous character and must escape relentless pursuers. Freemode events can also take the form of wacky stunt challenges, such as pulling off the longest wheelie, making the longest jump in a land vehicle, or causing the most near misses in a vehicle without actually taking any damage.

The update releasing next week also includes two new Adversary Modes. First, Hunt: You're part of a team tasked with delivering a vehicle rigged with explosives. The vehicle will detonate once its speed drops below a certain limit. Your opponents will harass and ram the vehicle to stop it. Or try Border Crossing. Here, two heavily armed squads face off on opposite sides of a neutral zone, with the goal of strategically infiltrating enemy territory with all team members and achieving victory. The Freemode Events update also brings the Rockstar Editor to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The editor includes new features (also available to PC players) such as a library of ambient sounds and sound effects, Snapmatic integration, updates to Director Mode, and more.
