Rockstar's 'GTA Online' is already in its third year and continues to enjoy enormous success. Nevertheless, support for it will eventually end, as publisher Take Two has indicated.
During the Cowen and Company Technology / Media & Telecom Conference, CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that moderate results for GTA Online are expected until October, as the game will then have been on the market for three years. However, it was never Rockstar's intention for GTA Online to last forever, and it's important that this doesn't happen. According to Zelnick, the franchise needs a rest at some point.
For now, players can still look forward to regular updates for GTA Online, as well as weekly new events. However, this is likely to come to a rapid end with the announcement of Rockstar's next game, which is rumored to be Red Dead Redemption 2. The exact timing of that announcement is currently only speculation.
