Just as some classic games were gaining momentum thanks to PlayStation Plus, their popularity is being cut short. Guerilla Games will soon be shutting down the online servers for three of its popular titles.
This affects the following: Killzone Shadow Fall (PS4) including Intercept Mode, Killzone: Mercenary and RIGS: Mechanized Combat LeagueAll titles will lose their online functionality as soon as the power is shut down on August 12th.
On twitter schreibt Guerilla Games:
On August 12, 2022, online servers for Killzone: Mercenary, Killzone Shadow Fall (including Intercept Mode) and RIGS: Mechanized Combat League will shut down. Online features (including online multiplayer modes) will cease on that date. Single player offline modes remain available

As usual, the offline components, such as the campaigns, etc., will remain and can still be played. The only surprising thing is this short-notice announcement, which gives players less than a month to play.
Killzone: Mercenary It was released in September 2013 for PlayStation Vita. Two months later, it was followed by... Killzone Shadow Falll, which was released in November 2013 for the PlayStation 4, officially the last installment in the shooter series. RIGS: Mechanized Combat League was released in October 2016, but was rather unsuccessful.
To a new one KillzoneHopefully, a new game isn't needed right now, since the franchise... Internally at Sony, it has probably already been buried..
Simply make a remake of Killzone Shadow Fall for €80; then it could be made appealing to new target groups, perhaps the servers would be full, or even better, a PC release.
Just kidding, guys. If the game isn't being played online, then from an economic point of view, it's normal to shut down the servers; it benefits PSN.
