Arrowhead releases update 6.2.6 for Helldivers 2 with improved FSR and PC fixes. However, the available PSSR 2.0 upgrade for the PS5 Pro is ignored.

Arrowhead Game Studios has released update 6.2.6 for "Helldivers 2," significantly improving image quality across all platforms. PS5 Pro owners, in particular, will see a noticeable upgrade to PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).

Sharper images across the board

The update focuses almost exclusively on upscaling technologies. In addition to the PSSR upgrade for the PS5 Pro, the standard PS5 also benefits from improved AMD FSR image quality. Arrowhead delivers exactly what the community has been demanding since the hardware launch: more detail, less flickering.

Xbox and PC gamers aren't left out either. While the Xbox Series X/S also receives an FSR upgrade, the patch on the Series S addresses a critical crash bug caused by insufficient memory. On PC, crashes related to Intel XeSS have been fixed. Additionally, Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) is now disabled by default on PC, as it was causing visual artifacts on some graphics cards. Users can manually re-enable it if they wish.

Where is PSSR 2.0?

Sony released PSSR 2.0 via a recent PS5 system update and made the current developer SDK available to all studios. Implementation is considered extremely straightforward, as the new AI logic is embedded at the system level and can be directly integrated with game engines. Titles like "Alan Wake 2" demonstrate in direct comparison that the new native PSSR 2.0 almost completely eliminates image noise and ghosting effects. It's therefore difficult to understand why Arrowhead, in "Helldivers 2," merely sharpens the old version 1.0 slightly via post-processing.

The update isn't a new content drop, but an extremely important stability patch for visuals. Arrowhead tackling the upscaling algorithms so soon after the latest hardware releases shows they're taking the technical situation seriously. The graphics will be crisper. The gameplay remains gritty. That's exactly how it should be.

Are you already noticing the difference in image sharpness on the PS5 Pro or the Xbox after the patch, or do the developers still need to improve the flickering?
