Since Wednesday, the long-awaited new project from Guerilla Games – Horizon: Zero Dawn – has been available, proving that they can develop more than just shooters. To mark the release, Sony Japan has released a fantastic live-action trailer.

Three stars await you in Horizon: breathtaking nature, menacing machines, and the red-haired warrior Aloy. The apocalypse has always captured the human imagination; the collapse of civilization—triggered by war, environmental destruction, gods, or aliens—is a recurring theme in films, books, and games. Considering the popularity of the subject, the depiction of the post-apocalypse is surprisingly one-dimensional: darkened skies, parched landscapes, and devastated cities. The colors of the future are typically gray and brown.

The vision pursued by the Dutch development studio Guerrilla Games in their latest work is completely and refreshingly different. The world after the end of known civilization is enchantingly beautiful. Nature has reclaimed the land, the cities and factories, the fields and roads. The people who survived the catastrophe are simple and connected to nature, living in tribes, in harmony with the world around them.

But this idyllic scene is deceptive, as the player, in the role of the young warrior Aloy, quickly discovers. While a large part of humanity's achievements did not survive the end of modern civilization, many machines apparently did. Autonomous robots, resembling wild animals in appearance and behavior, rule the Earth, making the world beyond human settlements a life-threatening place.

In Horizon Zero Dawn, the player explores this unusual, often overwhelming setting and its secrets. As heroine Aloy, they learn to hunt the menacing robotic beasts and machine creatures. They develop various skills and their own playstyle to experience Horizon Zero Dawn in a truly unique way. And because of the sheer scale, level of detail, and uniqueness of the setting, they will spend many unforgettable hours in this beautiful new world from Guerrilla Games.
