The rogue-lite adventure "Insurmountable" from German developer ByteRockers' Games is released today in a stealth mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. In the adventure, players climb a mountain and face daring challenges along the way.
Thanks to the procedurally generated environment, a dynamic weather system, the alternation of day and night, and a multitude of random events, no two climbs are alike. While most rogue-lites attempt to overwhelm the player with hordes of enemies, in "Insurmountable" the world and the mountain itself are the seemingly insurmountable foes that will break your neck if you don't carefully consider your every move. Everything hinges on the player's decisions, and every decision could be their last.
Players begin by choosing from three characters with different abilities and backstories, then climb the first mountain. There, they search for chests, caves, plane wrecks, ancient ruins, and equipment left behind by past adventurers. This is essential, as even the first mountain will demand everything from them. Over time, however, they will grow stronger, benefit from a sophisticated skill system, and learn to utilize the strengths of a true mountaineer.
In these three mysterious stories, players encounter dangerous animals, cross deadly chasms, and meet sinister yet benevolent characters, who are not always human. Those who defy all adversity and keep their sights set on the summit have a good chance of actually conquering the mountain.
“Insurmountable” will be shown from 18 pm onwards. PlayStation Store Available. The title has been very well received on PC so far and is rated "Mostly Positive" by players on Steam.
