Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is slated for release in 2027 – like previous Naughty Dog games, which were released in the spring. An insider hints at why this plan is risky.

Naughty Dog wants to with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Apparently, the studio is returning to where it feels safe: late spring or early summer. According to Bloomberg, Sony is currently aiming for a mid-2027 release. A familiar timeframe, because also Uncharted 4 It was originally published in May, The Last of Us and Part II Every June. Just coincidence or intentional?

But this very intention is now under pressure. There's talk of an internal demo and massive crunch time to meet the deadlines.

A proven timeframe – with old problems

A mid-2027 release fits perfectly into Naughty Dog's history. Enough time before the Christmas season, maximum exposure, and less competition just before the summer break. For Sony, this is a calculated strategy. For the developers, apparently less so.

Bloomberg berichtetthat Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Several internal deadlines were missed. In October, the company reacted to this, including mandatory overtime of at least eight additional hours per week, capped at 60 hours. This continued for seven weeks to complete an internal demo on time.

The fact that the acute crunch has now ended could be due to the time of year. However, many in the studio reportedly fear that the real strain will only begin in the final year of development. And with a mid-2027 release, that would be the critical phase right now.

The demonstration as a stumbling block

It is currently unclear when we Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet We'll see each other again. The finished demo could be shown as the first real gameplay in 2026 – publicly or behind closed doors. Both are potentially problematic. Internal demos create pressure from above, public presentations additional pressure from the outside. Those who have something to show tend to polish systems that might not yet be viable. That's a classic crunch driver.

Here we see a pattern familiar from Naughty Dog. First, the schedule is set ambitiously, then it's defended with extra work. The irony: The studio had, after The Last Of Us Part II New people were specifically hired to avoid precisely such bottlenecks. Many of these structures now appear to have collapsed.

Later than planned?

Officially, no one is talking about a delay. Not even Bloomberg. Nevertheless, it's a possibility. If internal pressure continues to mount, Sony could decide to postpone the release – perhaps until autumn. Some are even speculating about a scenario where it will be a late PS5 title or an early PS6 flagship – probably even both. There's no evidence for this, but the idea is plausible.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet It clearly follows Naughty Dog's tried-and-tested release pattern. However, the production may already be showing signs of strain, even though the goal is still a good two years away. Either the plan becomes more realistic, or history repeats itself. And then not out of nostalgia, but due to a lack of alternatives.

Apart from that, there is the fear that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet only a new edition of The Last of Us It will have a different skin. Overdramatized and no longer as daring as Uncharted once was.
