Join Us will be released in fall 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. The co-op survival game lets 1-4 players build their own post-apocalyptic cult in the USA.

The co-op survival game Join Us will be released in fall 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. The developer and publisher are bringing an open-world simulation that aims to shake up the genre with an unusual cult management system.

The title does away with classic patterns: Instead of just fighting against a post-apocalypse, players here found their own end-times cult.

Cult building in rural America

The game is set in the fictional Bedford County, USA. Here, the game world functions as a sandbox for up to four players in co-op mode. The mechanics require building your own base, recruiting local followers, and adapting your religious or ideological beliefs. The transition from pure survival to strategic resource and personnel management is the central gameplay pivot.

The open world adds an interesting dynamic. Not every resident of Bedford County reacts positively to the expansion plans of the player cult. The footage suggests an aggressive sandbox AI. Verbal confrontations quickly escalate into armed conflict. In addition to rival factions, players must also defend their community against external threats.

Co-op survival with management depth

The concept is reminiscent of games like "Cult of the Lamb," but shifts the action to a realistic, three-dimensional open-world perspective with third- or first-person action. The combination of survival crafting and NPC management is technically demanding. The server infrastructure must flawlessly calculate not only player synchronization but also the behavior of dozens of cult members.

Console players on PS5 and Xbox Series X should benefit from optimized loading times, as the persistent world demands fast data streams for base building. Details regarding a PS5 version are currently completely lacking. This suggests temporary exclusivity within the Microsoft ecosystem.

"Join Us“It delivers a fresh approach to the overused survival genre. The mix of action and cult simulation has potential. Crucial to its success will be the complexity of the management mechanics. If the quests remain superficial, it risks becoming a grind. If the balance between freedom and consequences is right, we can expect a real hidden gem this fall.”
