Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has surpassed six million units sold. Publisher Deep Silver and developer Warhorse Studios officially announced this today.
A huge success for the medieval RPG, which was only released on February 4th of this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Amidst all the depressing news, a small glimmer of hope for the gaming industry.
The accolade through sales figures
Six million units sold in less than five months is a real achievement for a hardcore role-playing game. Warhorse proves that historical realism doesn't have to remain a niche product. The game delivers exactly what the community demanded after the first installment: more Henry, more grit, more depth.
The success is no accident. Besides strong sales figures, the title garnered "Game of the Year" nominations and snagged the BAFTA Games Award for Best Story, among other accolades. That's impressive.
Discounts in the Steam Summer Sale
Anyone who has missed out on the trip to historical Bohemia so far now has the perfect opportunity to jump in. Just in time for the milestone, the franchise is launching into the Steam Summer Sale with discounts of up to 80 percent.
Meanwhile, the studio is already looking far ahead. Besides another Kingdom Come adventure, the developers have already announced a second open-world RPG, which should lead us to Middle-earthWarhorse is going all out.
The six million units sold are absolutely deserved. Warhorse Studios has delivered and rewarded the fans' trust. The studio's future looks incredibly exciting, especially with the Lord of the Rings license in its pocket.
What do you think: Can Warhorse transfer the typical, gritty realism from Kingdom Come one-to-one to a fantasy setting like Middle-earth, or will that break the studio's neck?
