Our preview of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Warhorse Studios has landed a real hit. In less than two weeks, the medieval RPG managed to become a bestseller. two million copies sold – an impressive achievement, both commercially and technically. But while many players are happy about the sequel, there's a group of fans who long for a remaster or an improved version of the first game. Bad news: that's not going to happen.
No return to Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, Global PR Manager of Warhorse, made this in an interview with SxyBiscuit It's clear on YouTube that the studio has no plans to return to the first part. “Hardcore fans would of course love that”, he admits, but at the same time he sees no realistic possibility for a new edition or a remaster.
"Unless someone like Saber Interactive comes along and says, 'Hey, we'll do it for you!' – otherwise I don't really see Warhorse in that role." So says Stolz-Zwilling. In short: If no one from outside offers to port or remaster it, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 will remain as it is.
This decision is likely to disappoint some players, especially those hoping for improvements in problematic areas like performance. A patch for the last-gen versions to run at a smooth 60 FPS on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 also remains a pipe dream. Such a patch would have been a welcome way to keep the community engaged.
Big plans for the future
Nevertheless, Warhorse is not idle. Recently, they released... Patch 1.2 for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 with numerous bug fixes and new features like the Barber Mode. Furthermore, a DLC is already in the pipeline. So, while the future of the first game appears uncertain, work on the sequel continues apace.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 It's currently available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. So, anyone craving a medieval experience should definitely jump into the new title – because the first one will likely remain just that: history.
