You wake up as Henry, the son of a blacksmith. The village still smells of bread and iron, but just minutes later it lies in ruins. What began with this scene surprised many players in 2018 with an open medieval world that felt not like a game, but like time travel. Now there are increasing indications that Kingdom Come: Deliverance soon natively on the PS5 could appear.
Native PS5 version instead of a simple patch
The X account “PlayStation Size“, known for its reliable data leaks from the PSN backend, has a new PS5 version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance It's been discovered. And no, this apparently doesn't just mean a performance patch for the existing PS4 version, but a truly standalone, native PS5 edition. Official confirmation from Warhorse Studios is still pending, but if the leak proves true, it should be cause for celebration for many fans.
Although the game was technically ambitious on PS4, the port wasn't without its problems: long loading times, performance drops, and jagged edges in the UI and controls. Especially in a game that relies on historical immersion, such technical issues quickly become a nuisance. A properly optimized PS5 version could elevate the experience to a new level, provided it goes beyond mere cosmetic improvements.
Why this is interesting right now
Warhorse just Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Released. A remastered PS5 version of the first installment would be a smart move, either as a way for veterans to re-enter the game or as a late entry point for those who missed it the first time around. Younger players, especially those who have since acquired a PS5, could then dive straight into the medieval world of Bohemia. That is, provided the remaster offers more than just a higher resolution.
It remains to be seen whether Warhorse will actually integrate new features, such as haptic feedback, faster loading times thanks to the SSD, or even reworked textures and lighting. All of that remains speculation. One thing is clear, though: if you're going to the trouble of developing a native PS5 version, it should at least look noticeably more modern.
The return of Kingdom Come: Deliverance On the PS5, it would be more than just a technical update. It could show how much the studio has evolved and whether it has learned to better blend history and gameplay. Hopefully, Warhorse will make an official statement soon. And perhaps then the question will arise: Do we need to re-evaluate the game?
What do you think – would you Kingdom Come: Deliverance Would I want to play it again (or for the first time) on PS5 if the port is good?
