Square Enix will release "Kingdom Hearts 4" simultaneously for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. The publisher made this surprising announcement during the Nintendo Direct presentation in June 2026. However, a specific release date has not yet been announced.
For years, the series meant nothing but tedious waiting for us gamers. PC ports arrived months late, and Nintendo fans were fobbed off with unplayable cloud versions. That's all over now. Square Enix is going ahead with a simultaneous multi-platform launch.
New teaser provides exciting insights
The new teaser throws main character Sora into a photorealistic metropolis called Quadratum. The trailer fully embraces next-gen visuals. The fact that this title runs natively on the Nintendo Switch 2 right from launch is a strong indication of the power of Nintendo's new hardware. No more compromises.
There's something to tide you over while you wait. On October 8th, the "Kingdom Hearts Collection I-III" will be released as a native complete package for the Nintendo Switch 2. This includes:
- Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX
- Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
- Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind
