Published on October 1, 2025 LEGO A new set that's sure to delight Nintendo and retro fans alike: the LEGO Game Boy. With 421 pieces and a faithful 1:1 scale, the model is based on the original 1989 version – complete with a D-pad, A/B buttons, and even contrast and volume controls. It has everything a retro enthusiast could want – only this one is made entirely of plastic bricks.
The best part: The set includes two classic Game Paks – The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Super Mario LandThe included building blocks even make it possible to display different screens, such as the iconic Nintendo start screen or scenes from the aforementioned games.
LEGO Game Boy: More decoration than technology
Measuring 14 cm high, 9 cm wide, and 3 cm deep, the LEGO Game Boy is a near-perfect replica of the original handheld, making it look almost real in a display case. However, it lacks any electronics or interactive features. There's no sound, light, or screen. The model is clearly intended as a decorative object, not a toy in the traditional sense.
The price is €59,99, which seems reasonable given the attention to detail – even if LEGO fans are all too familiar with the price debate. Pre-orders start on July 24, 2025The set will then be available in LEGO Online Shop, in LEGO Stores and at selected retailers.

Retro meets building blocks – but for whom exactly?
The LEGO Game Boy It's not a toy in the strictest sense, but rather a collector's item for fans, somewhere between nostalgia, design object, and fan service. Anyone who grew up with the Game Boy or simply enjoys well-made LEGO models will likely find it appealing. However, the set might be less attractive to younger audiences with no connection to the original console.
