A meticulously detailed LEGO PS2 set could soon become a reality – a must-have for retro gaming lovers and PlayStation enthusiasts!

The LEGO Ideas platform has once again demonstrated the creativity and dedication of its community. A LEGO set based on the iconic PlayStation 2, submitted by a user named RippleDrive, has reached the crucial milestone of 10.000 supporters and is now under official review by LEGO.

A detailed PS2 in LEGO form

The concept: A Detailed replica kit of the legendary PS2 In the classic original design. With over 2.000 pieces, fans can recreate not only the console itself, but also a DualShock 2 controller and memory cards in almost exact scale. The functional elements are particularly impressive: the disc tray can be opened, the memory card covers can be removed, and the controller can be inserted – at least in its LEGO version.

For tech enthusiasts, there's another highlight: Inside the model are replica components of the PS2. A removable lid allows you to see the "circuits" that form the heart of the console. This level of attention to detail makes the set a must-have not only for retro gaming fans but also for LEGO enthusiasts.

There are still some hurdles to overcome before this becomes reality.

Despite the overwhelming support, the project still faces some challenges. Even if LEGO approves the set for production, it will also require Sony's consent, as the PlayStation 2 is a registered trademark. However, the chances are good: Sony and LEGO already have a partnership that includes, among other things... Official LEGO sets for "Horizon: Forbidden West" has produced.

Whether and when this set will hit the shelves remains to be seen. If it goes into production, it will be an absolute highlight for collectors and fans of nostalgic gaming culture. Until then, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed – and maybe start making some shelf space.
