Following Sony's lawsuit against Tencent, Light of Motiram has radically changed its presentation on Steam. The game description, images, and artwork have lost their distinct Horizon look.

Sony was serious, and Tencent is apparently pulling the emergency brake. After the Lawsuit over alleged "Horizon" copy The developer Polaris Quest has removed the Steam page from its website. Light of Motiram Thoroughly cleaned up. Fewer robot dinosaurs, more generic survival gameplay, and a look that now resembles a kids' version of the game.

From "Horizon clone" to generic open-world game

Light of Motiram the novel presented in November 2024 – and yes, the comparisons to guerrillas HorizonThe references to the series were unmistakable. Red-haired protagonist? Check. Mechanical animals? Check. Tribal post-apocalypse? Double-check. Media and fans quickly agreed: This isn't just "inspired," it's a copy with a different name.

Last month, Sony went all out legally, filing a lawsuit against Tencent in California. The accusation was that Tencent was a "slavish clone" of... HorizonAccording to Sony, the graphics style, story, gameplay, and even the marketing are so similar that some players thought it was a new installment in the series.

Store page put on a diet

Since this week, the Steam page of Light of Motiram like a toned-down version of her former self, like The Game Post has determined. The old description sounded almost like it came from a Horizon-Pitch: "Explore a world overrun by colossal machines... train Mechanimals..." Now all that's left is a generic survival text: "Use everything around you cleverly to stay alive..."

The visuals have also been affected. Gone are the vast landscapes with robotic beings and sci-fi tribal vibes. Instead, there are neutral open-world scenes without the obvious... HorizonThe look is noticeably younger, as if they were trying to appeal to a completely different audience. The key art now shows two creatures, a penguin-like thing and a dog, instead of the red-haired protagonist who previously looked unmistakably like Aloy.

New release window, no new statement

In addition to the cosmetic changes, a first release window was revealed: fourth quarter of 2027. Previously, it only stated "Not yet announcedAccording to SteamDB, several videos linked to the original presentation have also been removed. It's unclear whether these changes are part of a legal settlement or simply damage control. Sony's lawsuit is certainly ongoing, and Tencent has so far remained silent.

This all smacks of a mix of PR damage control and legal caution, even if it's happening rather late after the initial accusations. Even if the gameplay looks exactly the same as before, public perception is coalescing into a "kids' version of Horizon" narrative. And that's not an ideal start for a AAA project not slated for release until 2027.
