The Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 brought the first big bang: Lords of the Fallen II It was officially unveiled and is scheduled for release on PS5 in 2026. CI Games showcased a new CGI trailer, revealing the return to the dark Umbral realm – darker, harsher, and more bloodthirsty than ever before.

One century after the original

The story picks up roughly 100 years after the events of the first installment. The Umbral Darkness has spread further, and even gods fear its grip. This significantly raises the stakes compared to its predecessor – the setting feels more apocalyptic and final.

What's particularly interesting is that Lords of the Fallen II It builds directly on the experiences of the community-favorite version 2.0 of its predecessor. Released in March 2025 after over 50 updates, this version represented something of a "definitive cut" to the original. The sequel now builds upon this foundation, aiming to make combat faster, more precise, and even riskier. Players can look forward to new finishers, tougher boss fights, and an Umbral system that has a greater impact on gameplay and decisions.

In short: less tolerance for mistakes. The combat system rewards precise inputs but punishes hesitation more severely than before. Those who only play Soulslikes casually will likely find it difficult. Fans, however, get exactly what they want: an uncompromising experience that draws more heavily on genre giants like... Elden Ring They want to measure it. The fact that the PS5 Pro is mentioned directly in the announcement also shows that a higher technical specification is definitely planned.

Will it work? We'll see; the darkness, at least, is already watching with bated breath.
