Mafia: The Old Country It has received a fresh update that addresses numerous issues – from blocked missions and AI glitches to annoying graphical problems. For a game that thrives on its atmosphere, these changes are not a luxury, but a necessity to prevent players from getting bogged down by technical glitches.
Mission stoppages and AI errors under control
One of the biggest criticisms so far: companions like Luca or Cesare sometimes simply stopped, blocking entire missions. According to the official patch notes A simple reload should now help – better than before, but still a workaround. Additionally, the mission in the customs warehouse has been adjusted: a specific takedown is no longer mandatory; those who elegantly evade the enemy can still complete the task.
This includes fixes for invisible obstacles, cover elements, and general improvements to the behavior of enemy AI and neutral NPCs. It sounds unspectacular, but in practice it makes all the difference between a smooth progress through the story and constantly getting stuck.
Fine-tuning of graphics and presentation
Visually, the main issues were ghosting and flickering hair in cutscenes. These problems, along with pop-in, clipping, and lighting glitches, have now been fixed. Ultrawide players will also enjoy improved cutscenes without distortion. The user interface has also been improved: missing subtitles, buggy menus, and an unresponsive HUD should now be a thing of the past.
The update brings stability improvements to all platforms. On PS5, the focus was on general crash fixes, while on Xbox Series X|S, visual adjustments for the Series S were also integrated. PC players can look forward to a fix for the annoying issue where DLSS frame generation would simply stop working – a restart was previously required. Performance optimizations are also included for the Steam version.
The update for Mafia: The Old Country It feels like a major spring cleaning. No spectacular new features, but lots of small tweaks that, taken together, noticeably improve the experience. Those hoping for a big content drop will have to wait a little longer. For everyone already playing: download it before you venture back into Etere.

One of the best games of recent years. Absolutely amazing.
Frank Müller not really ♂️
Who says Dav Id?
Anyone who has a different opinion than you
Frank Müller, can you actually move freely around the world after the story?
Or is that no longer possible as in the previous installments?
There is a free mode, but apart from collecting a few things, it's pretty boring.
Sandro Duryn: There's a free-roam mode, but nothing really happens in the world.
Patrick Sonntag, okay, thanks for the info.
I've seen a lot of graphical glitches on the PS5 Pro lately. And I think the graphics settings have been downgraded in some cases.
