Just one month after the release of Mafia: The Old Country, a spokesperson discusses the future of the series. A new Mafia game has already been approved.

It was just over a month ago that Mafia: The Old Country It has been released, and already there are concrete hints about the future of the series. The game was a resounding success for Hangar 13: In August, it became the most profitable title of the month, confirming that the long-running series is far from over.

Voice from the team confirms new Mafia game

A sentence was recently uttered in a podcast that has fans pricking up their ears. Carina Conti, who in Mafia: The Old Country Isabella Torris spoke, was at a livestream of “Bubbly Nuggets“as a guest. There she said verbatim:

“Okay, I do think that the uh company was approved for another sequel for another Mafia game, which is very exciting.”

This strongly suggests that Hangar 13 has already received internal approval for another Mafia game. Whether it will be a direct sequel or a standalone installment set in a new era remains to be seen.

Sequel or new beginning?

There is currently very little factual information available. Mafia: The Old Country However, it didn't end without hints that could certainly lead to a sequel. Those familiar with the series know that Hangar 13 likes to play with loose connections between installments. So both are possible: a direct continuation of the events or a fresh start in a new city, as the series has always done.

Hangar 13 still sees potential in the mafia brand despite its mixed history. This is no small feat in an industry that tends to scrap entire franchises after a weak installment. As long as they learn from the mistakes of Mafia III has learned and the momentum of Mafia: The Old Country If this is taken as a starting point, fans can certainly be optimistic.

The studio is also currently working on a free roam mode for the current game, which is intended to really bring the game world to life.

My decision depends on the content that's added now. I need a proper open world. This scenery thing was a waste; they should have just made a linear level instead of pretending to offer freedom while not letting you choose your weapon, vehicle, or outfit for each mission. I thought the story and graphics were well done. If this is supposed to be the solution—to avoid being bombarded with Ubisoft-style open world games—then I say they've missed the mark.
