Mafia: The Old Country It focuses on cinematic storytelling rather than open-world bombast. But how is the linear Mafia prequel being received by the international press? The initial reviews paint a clear picture with interesting nuances.
Focused, intense, but not innovative
For TierraGamer one is positively surprised: Mafia: The Old Country It offers a consistently entertaining experience, driven by varied gameplay and an immersive story. While it lacks innovation in combat and stealth mechanics, the foray into the Sicilian mafia milieu is worthwhile – not least because of the fair price. 8 of 10 points.
Areajugones also praises the narrative depth. The game succeeds in emotionally engaging players and immersing them in the story. Complex systems or technical highlights aren't necessary; what matters is the feeling of being part of a gripping tale. The recommendation is clear: simply play and enjoy. Rating: 9 out of 10.
Good ideas, but too ordinary?
Gameblog.fr, on the other hand, is less enthusiastic. While the French site also highlights the compelling characters and unusual setting, particularly noting strong narrative moments in the final third, it finds the overall impression to be... Mafia: The Old Country Too conventional to truly stand out. Compared to previous installments in the series, it leaves too little impression. Result: 6 out of 10 points.
It should be noted that these reviews are based on the PC version. Since 2K Games has likely not distributed many PS5 keys, we can only begin our review now.

The bottom line is Mafia: The Old Country Sea Metacritic It delivers exactly what it promises: a tightly directed mafia story without any unnecessary gameplay frills. Critics praise the atmosphere, storytelling, and characters, while the mechanics remain at a familiar level. Those who aren't bothered by a clear narrative structure and limited scope will find a solid, cinematic experience. However, innovations are nowhere to be found.
Mafia: The Old Country It will be officially available from tomorrow.

Don't think so, it's only €50 but still... I don't think you can drive freely in the city anymore, and that's the sticking point for many veteran gamers!
That's enough for today's gamers; they don't want the same demands as gamers of the past.
Sandro Duryn, I think so 🙂
I've done it, yeah
Pro
-greatly staged story
-variety of weapons (although more could have been included, e.g., a Tommy gun)
Contrary to
-fps drops in cutscenes and vehicle sequences
-The open world or exploration mode is a waste of resources and potential.
Yes, I understand that the story mission focuses on the narrative so players don't stray too far from the objective, but then they could have created linear levels like in Uncharted or The Last of Us. And while exploration does what its name suggests, why weren't there more options, like police patrols, bandit camps to clear, or animals to hunt? It's such a waste to create such a beautiful world and then not utilize it. Other publishers would be thrilled to have such a beautiful and functional open world, like Mindyes. I can already see some nerd developing a mod for the exploration mode on PC that adds new content. This exploration mode really impresses me. Yes, I understand that people aren't interested in busywork games like Ubisoft's, but that can't be the solution either when you create an open world where you can't really integrate yourself. And of course, one could argue that there wasn't enough money for that, but they could have taken the items from the story mode and simply placed them on the map and implemented a respawn system for the enemies.
It's awesome, I started playing it on the Pro yesterday, it looks amazing and plays great.
Not far into the game yet, but I think this is the definition of "comfort food". That's okay though, since elaborate single-player games are rather scarce at the moment and the price is reasonable.
Ign Italiy only 70 haha are probably angry because there is no Italian dubbing, only Sicilian.
It'll be okay, I haven't started yet, probably not tonight.
I started watching, the prologue and atmosphere are great, it's just a shame that the frame rate drops to 30fps in the cutscenes.
