Marvel's Wolverine sends Logan to Japan. Insomniac Games confirms Tokyo as the main setting and teases the infamous Roxxon Corporation.

Insomniac Games is sending Logan to Tokyo. The developers have officially confirmed that the Japanese metropolis will be one of the locations in "Marvel's Wolverine".

A very brief clip at the end of the latest trailer already showed a nighttime rooftop scene overlooking a neon-lit metropolis. Now it's clear. The journey definitely leads to Japan, thus the PS5 exclusive remains true to its promise of a global campaign.

This means more variety. Logan leaves his familiar US swamps and the seedy bars of Madripoor to hack and slash his way through the Tokyo skyline. The setting is a perfect fit for the character. Anyone familiar with the comics knows that Logan has a deep, complex connection to Japan and its samurai traditions. There's a ton of potential here for the story.

A detail for comic fans

The current teaser clip for “Marvel's WolverineA closer look reveals even more about the game world. In the background of the skyline, which strongly resembles the famous Shibuya district, the Roxxon Corporation logo rises majestically. This megacorporation is one of the most notorious organizations in the entire Marvel Universe. Insomniac cleverly utilizes this familiar lore. We already know Roxxon from the studio's Spider-Man games, where the company rarely fought for good. It strongly suggests a conspiracy that is chasing Logan around the globe.

The gameplay should benefit massively from this verticality. Sinking claws into concrete, racing from rooftop to rooftop, and fighting under neon lights – that's exactly what we want to see. The combination of traditional Japanese elements and sterile corporate architecture offers a wealth of visual highlights.

The confirmation of Tokyo as a key location further heightens anticipation for the title. Insomniac demonstrates a knack for choosing locations that make sense both in terms of gameplay and story. The inclusion of Roxxon also bridges the gap to a larger, interconnected universe without the game losing its own identity. Expectations are rising, and what has been shown provides solid reasons for excitement.

“Marvel’s Wolverine” will be released on September 15, 2026.
