Things are starting to get confusing, given how often Konami and Kojima Productions have been releasing Metal Gear games lately.

The fact that the debut trailer for 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' also included footage from 'Ground Zeroes' didn't make things any easier, so some explanation was needed. And that's exactly what Konami has now done, confirming that 'Ground Zeroes' and 'The Phantom Pain' are two separate games.

According to reports, 'The Phantom Pain' serves as the prologue to 'Ground Zeroes', in which the events of the first game are revisited. While 'The Phantom Pain' will definitely be released on the PS3, 'Ground Zeroes' is expected to be a next-gen title. However, Konami has not yet announced a specific platform for the game.
