Metro Awakening for PS VR2 attempts to further increase the level of immersion and relies on realistic gameplay mechanics.

Vertigo Games is currently working on Metro Awakening for PlayStation VR2, which is also among the top VR studios. With a wealth of experience under its belt, it seizes the opportunity to take immersive gameplay to a new level.

The developer discusses this in a special feature on the official website. PlayStation Blog, which deals, among other things, with how to experience the intense experience of Metro- transferring games to the VR medium and implementing them even more realistically. This is particularly interesting here because, due to the gas mask, the developer largely forgoes a user interface. All interactions take place virtually in real time, just like in real life.

Metro Awakening in VR is a completely different experience.

This includes interactions like wiping the gas mask clean, pulling out maps, and checking weapon ammo levels, which aren't apparent through simple UI elements. For example, the player can only see the remaining ammo by checking the magazine. The gas mask also has to be taken out of the backpack and manually placed on the face, to name just two examples.

"With these types of interaction, we absolutely wanted to ensure that they were as diegetic as possible."

Additionally, the PS VR2 technologies are utilized, including the adaptive triggers that Vertigo Games has tailored to each individual weapon, providing unique feedback upon firing. The developer believes these subtle elements are the key to making the player forget they're even in a game. The same applies to the haptic feedback of the Sense controllers, which further enhances the immersive experience.

Metro Awakening This makes it one of the most promising PS VR2 titles this year, alongside Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate and the new shooter Frenzies appears, which was also newly announced.
