The next week the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 For the first time on PlayStation 5, including special support for the PS5 Pro. Anyone who takes a look at the technical details at the console version's launch will quickly realize: Asobo and Microsoft have taken the challenge seriously of bringing the long-established flight simulator to consoles without ignoring the hardware's performance limitations, and with cloud power in the background.
PS5 Pro resolution and performance
The PS5 version runs at a default resolution of 2560 × 1440, which is upscaled to 4K. For the PS5 Pro, the team has set the resolution to 3200 × 1800 increased, delivering near-native 4K quality. "That was one of the key requirements", explained Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator. "Either you have to increase the frame rate or the resolution – with the PS5 Pro, the choice was clear."
The maximum frame rate remains a compromise. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 It simulates an infinite, dynamic world with flight altitudes up to 70.000 feet, thousands of cities, and millions of details. A constant 60 FPS is unrealistic here, so the developers stabilize the frame rate at around 30 FPS. On the PS5 Pro, the higher resolution also benefits from optimized rendering techniques, resulting in a sharper image, even though the game isn't designed for 60 FPS.

PS VR2 options on the PS5 Pro
PlayStation VR2 will also be supported, though not until 2026. VR is particularly demanding because stable frame rates are essential for comfort. Currently, the developers are working to ensure a consistent 48 to 60 FPS before the VR version is officially released. "We don't want to deliver beta quality.", according to Neumann, "The players should be able to fully enjoy the simulator."
The PS5 Pro version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 demonstrates that high resolution and realistic graphics are possible, even on consoles. The combination of a cloud-based thin client, optimized rendering techniques, and controller support makes the PS5 Pro the most attractive platform for ambitious gamers. Those seeking maximum detail and an immersive experience will find this to be the best console version of the flight simulator to date.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Standard Edition – PlayStation® 5
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 takes simulation to a new level of authenticity and realism.

Fabian Baumgartner: A PC costing €700 certainly can't manage 4k 60fps.
If Beni Hitz had done it right from the start, even the PlayStation 3 could have achieved that ↕️ But no, it's all just a money grab on PC. You pay a hefty sum once and have peace of mind for years. Sure, you can't take your PC everywhere, but you've got serious power under the hood.
I have a silly question, but there's no multiplayer in this game, right? If not, is it perhaps planned?
Of course there's MP.
Rico-Rolando Dettke, yes, it's possible 🙂
And very few PCs can handle 4K with this game because it's so demanding. So what the consoles can achieve with their hardware is good.
The console can only achieve this because it's cloud-based. 4K isn't always 4K except for the resolution; I can display 4K with low details or on Ultra.
Marko Adrian, yes I know, so what?
Marko Adrian, PC Fan Boy. This was never in question.
I'd prefer it to be a bit smoother and not 4k ^^ but since it's "slow" gameplay anyway, it's fine.
Almost 4K, so for a console costing almost €700 it should really be able to handle that, but apparently not. #pcmasterrace
Fabian Baumgartner, buy a PC, you hero!
Mike Gloßmann, I can tell you're a console gamer. Mike, you don't just buy a PC, you build one yourself. Anyone who buys a pre-built PC is out of their mind. They've got crap hardware inside for tons of money, just like the PCs from MediaMarkt and all those other stores like Aldi and Lidl. It's all garbage. If you really want to have some serious power, you build your own. You can do it for less money. And then you get real performance. ↕️ And if you don't have the money, get a job.
Fabian Baumgartner, and if you build it yourself it doesn't cost any money or what, you idiot. What kind of pointless lecture are you giving me here? I have a MacBook, but not for gaming; I'm not 15 anymore.
Mike Gloßmann: Sure, it costs money, but certainly not 3K.
