Fans of the series can finally mark the official release date of the cinematic adaptation of Mortal Kombat on their calendars.
The film adaptation of the game series has had a turbulent year. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was uncertain until the very end whether filming could be completed or if the project would have to be prematurely halted. Originally, the release was planned for January of next year, before Warner Bros. backtracked to see how things would develop.
Concerns about the film not being completed have now been dispelled; the release date has been set for April 16, 2021. Given the current circumstances, no one had really expected such a quick turnaround. Producer Todd Garner, meanwhile, shared the following image on his Twitter account:
Given the imminent release, it's all the more surprising that no trailer has been shown yet. Garner assured us, however, that one will be released at the beginning of next year. Aside from the released poster, not much else about the film has been revealed. So we'll have to wait and see what news the new year brings.
