Electronic Arts and Ghost Games today revealed the first details about the new Need for Speed, the development of which was confirmed some time ago. Players will be able to take the wheel of the legendary racing game series again starting at the end of this year.
As First, one confirms, that the extensive tuning options will be retained after the reboot:
"We love it, you love it, everyone loves it. What's not to love? So you can be sure that tuning has a permanent place in the Need for Speed series. It will remain and will play just as big a role in the next game and beyond as it has so far."
The cops are also back, so expect some exciting chases:
"There's nothing better than getting into a police chase and feeling them on your tail as you speed through the city. You've got the cops behind you, other drivers in front of you, and then – out of nowhere – BOOM! They deploy a Rhino unit at a street race. Can you believe it?"
Furthermore, Ghost Games promises another "breathtaking" and an open game world where you can now also explore off-road. Following criticism of the always-online concept, improvements have been made this time:
"When the next Need for Speed is released, you can expect a single-player experience that you can play completely offline. And to answer the next question right away: Yes, that also means you can pause the game."
Further details about the new Need for Speed will be revealed at the EA Play event in June.
