Following initial rumors about another Mortal Kombat film, another adaptation of the 1990s cult video game has now been confirmed.
Kevin Tancharoen, who produced the web series Mortal Kombat Legacy earlier this year, will direct. The new film is written by Oren Uziel, who also penned the script for Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, the roughly 8-minute Mortal Kombat clip that has garnered over 10 million views. Uziel was also responsible for securing Jeri Ryan and Michael Jai White for the project.
The cast for the new Mortal Kombat film is currently unknown. The project is still in the development phase.
Furthermore, a new Mortal Kombat game is planned for release alongside the film in 2013. However, no further information is available at this time.
