There have been previous reports that developer Creative Assembly is working on another Alien game, presumably a direct successor to 'Alien Isolation'.
2015 indicated first job postings Regarding the potential development of the game, things have been rather quiet about it since then. Creative Assembly also expressed strong interest in a sequel. However, the developer has been busy with 'Halo Wars 2' (Xbox One), which has been available since February of this year.
However, work on the Alien sequel may have resumed, as reported in the current issue of OPM Magazine. to read According to an unnamed source, the studio is reportedly working on the game again. Neither Creative Assembly nor SEGA have commented on the report, so as usual, only time will tell what's really going on.
For SEGA, ‘Alien Isolation’ was at least a huge success, which, based on experience, would make a sequel possible.
(Update)
There are now some doubts as to whether 'Alien Isolation 2' is actually in development. Many of the original developers are no longer employed by Creative Assembly, which doesn't completely rule out a sequel, but it's likely that it's currently little more than the development of a prototype – and this prototype doesn't necessarily have to be connected to the Alien IP.
Furthermore, the truly massive commercial success of 'Alien: Isolation' is being questioned, as it is said to have barely reached the break-even point, meaning the point at which the project's costs were recouped. Publisher SEGA might therefore consider another game too risky, given that they already have far more successful titles in their portfolio.
As for Creative Assembly, they will probably continue working on 'Total War: Warhammer 2', as well as another unannounced project in the same universe.
