Square Enix has reiterated in its latest quarterly report that the Deus EX series remains important to the publisher, despite persistent rumors that the franchise has been put on hold.

According to the CEO Yosuke Matsuda That's absolutely not the case; it's more a question of available resources. You always have to weigh up which game you want to tackle next and can't work on everything at once. Sure, that would be great, but in reality, it's about priorities, and some have to take a backseat and wait their turn. And since a Deus EX game has just been released, we'll have to be patient for the next one.

To offer fans some consolation, the producers assure them that they are constantly considering what to do next with the series. The fact is, however, that the brand will be preserved and will return. They just can't say when at this time.
