Hello Games has released update 6.2 "Remnant" for No Man's Sky Released and available now on all platforms, the update focuses on a massively upgraded Colossus Exocraft, a new gravity tool for the Multi-Tool, and a limited-time community expedition.
According to the developers on the official website The update aims to better integrate exploration, resource management, and vehicle usage. The question is less about what's new, but rather whether it feels practical in everyday use.
Gravity instead of grinder
The centerpiece of the update is the Gravitino Coil, a multi-tool attachment that magnetizes, attracts, or hurls physical objects. This allows players to not only gather resources but also collect industrial waste or even manipulate Sentinel drones in combat. In everyday gameplay, it could actually save time, especially when clearing large areas. However, it remains to be seen how precise and stable the physics will be with large numbers of objects. No Man's Sky Anyone who knows this knows: Such systems stand or fall on clean implementation.
The previously rather bulky Colossus is getting a makeover in No Man's Sky Update 6.2 finally brings a clear role. New cabs, chassis, modules, and paint schemes allow for true specialization – from off-road collectors to mobile waste disposal vehicles. The flatbed module handles large scrap loads, and the Exocraft furnace allows waste to be processed directly on the go. This reduces return trips but also increases complexity. Those who simply want to explore at their leisure might find the system's intricate structure overwhelming.
Industrial scrap as a game mechanic
New additions include waste processing plants and entire planets littered with industrial remnants, including toxic, explosive, and radioactive varieties. The accompanying community expedition focuses on these remnants and promises exclusive cosmetic rewards. The concept is intriguing: cleaning up instead of simply dismantling. The critical questions remain: how grindy will the system be, and will the rewards justify the effort?
No Man's Sky Update 6.2 doesn't bring spectacular growth, but it does bring targeted improvements. The Colossus finally becomes relevant, and the gravity tools open up new gameplay possibilities. Whether this translates into real added value or just short-term distraction will only become clear after a few hours of gameplay.
What do you think: A breath of fresh air for veterans – or just another system for the already long feature list?
