The former developers of Final Fantasy X and Street Fighter V are today unveiling their new project 'No Straight Roads', a musical battle-adventure game in which you fight as an indie rock band against a massive electronic dance music empire.
The game can be described as follows:
"No Straight Roads takes you to Vinyl City, where the megacorporation NSR (No Straight Roads) has seized control of all the clubs. NSR also acts as a label for electronic dance music and only allows its own music to be played. You play as Mayday and Zuke, two members of the indie rock band Bunk Bed Junction, who want to take on the artists of NSR in gigantic boss battles and thus reclaim control of the city."
No Straight Roads is not intended to be just another rhythm game, but rather to tell a story about different musical cultures using strong visual elements. In terms of gameplay, it's more comparable to Kingdom Hearts or Devil May Cry, except that everything is closely intertwined with music.
"We want to represent music in all its glory: its culture, its creativity, and its many stories. It's also about the conflict between different ideals and reasons for making music. We tell these stories in a way that is only possible in video games. We rely less on cutscenes and more on visual storytelling."
No Straight Roads will be released this spring for PS4.
