Although the horror genre is often said to have particularly good compatibility with VR, not every new title in this genre will automatically support the new technology.
This certainly has its reasons, as the developers at Red Barrels explain. erklären, who are currently working on 'Outlast 2' and are not yet planning to include VR in the game.
"I think that if you really want to make an effective and accessible VR game, you have to design it from the ground up for that purpose. Since we're only a team of 20 people, we have to focus on one thing at a time. We'll see if we'll jump on the VR bandwagon after we release Outlast 2."
Whether this will be a post-launch support update for Outlast 2 or a completely new project remains entirely open. However, a time-limited 2D demo of the game is currently available on the PlayStation Store, which will disappear on November 01st.
